Cameron's work has, in a sense, captured a moment in the rising action of a plot. It's not the culmination--and it doesn't have the relieved sensation of a denouement. He's taken a piece of narrative that would otherwise seem unimportant and asked me--all but required me--to view it as worthy. In his work there is a keen sense of a before and after--as if the image brings me in medias res to an already progressing story. I'm not worried about the resolution--yet--but I find myself inexplicably drawn to the characters and setting. There's an incredible sense of potential--Cameron's work doesn't have the excitement a story's climax--nor the resolution of the falling action, but the ripening growth of what's to come.
